Astheworld'slargestoilproducer,SaudiArabiaisalsothelargestsourceofChina'soilimports.CustomsfiguresshowedthatChinaimportedaround36milliontonsofcrudefromthecountryin2008,anincreaseof38percentyear-on-year.Chinaimported179milliontonsofcrudeoilin2008,anincreaseof9.6percentfromayearearlier.Importsaccountedfor48percentofthenation'stotalcrudeoildemand,1.8percentagepointshigherthanthepreviousyear.
