　　ungho--goingtoteachAmericangovernment,lovedpoliticalsystem.Kidsinthe12thgrade:notexactlyallthatenthusiasticabouttheAmericangovernmentsystem.Yeartwo:learnedafewthings--hadtochangemytactic.AndIputinfrontofthemanauthenticexperiencethatallowedthemtolearnforthemselves.Ididn'ttellthemwhattodo,orhowtodoit.Iposedaprobleminfrontofthem,whichwastoputonanelectionforumfortheirownmunity.Theyproducedfliers,theycalledoffices,theycheckedschedules,theyweremeetingwithsecretaries,theyproducedanelectionforumbookletfortheentiretowntolearnmoreabouttheircandidates.Theyinvitedeveryoneintotheschoolforaneveningofconversationaboutgovernmentandpoliticsandwhetherornotthestreetsweredonewell,andreallyhadthisrobustexperientiallearning.Theolderteachers--moreexperienced--lookedatmeandwent,\Itwastheirs.Itwasexperiential.Itwasauthentic.Itmeantsomethingtothem.Andtheywillstepup.在我还是个高中生到我开始教书那段时间当中,我们目睹因特网的出现.

　　但我知道这些孩子会出席,我相信这一点.我每星期都告诉他们我对他们的期许.

　　（事例1：体验式学习让学生获益匪浅）FromKansas,ImovedontolovelyArizona,whereItaughtinFlagstaffforanumberofyears,thistimewithmiddleschoolstudents.LuckilyIdidn'thavetoteachthemAmericangovernment.Couldteachthemthemoreexcitingtopicofgeography.Again,thrilledtolearn.ButwhatwasinterestingaboutthispositionIfoundmyselfininArizona,wasIhadthisreallyextraordinarilyeclecticgroupofkidstoworkwithinatrulypublicschool.Andwegottohavethesemomentswherewewouldgettheseopportunities.AndoneopportunitywaswegottogoandmeetPaulRusesabagina,whichisthegentlemanthatthemovie\Theproblemthenbeeshowdoyoutakeseventh-andeighth-graderstoatalkaboutgenocideanddealwiththesubjectinawaythatisresponsibleandrespectful,andtheyknowwhattodowithit.AndsowechosetolookatPaulRusesabaginaasanexampleofagentlemanwhosingularlyusedhislifetodosomethingpositive.Ithenchallengedthekidstoidentifysomeoneintheirownlife,orintheirownstory,orintheirownworld,thattheycouldidentifythathaddoneasimilarthing.Iaskedthemtoproducealittlemovieaboutit.It'sthefirsttimewe'ddonethis.Nobodyreallyknewhowtomaketheselittlemoviesontheputer.Buttheywereintoit.AndIaskedthemtoputtheirownvoiceoverit.Itwasthemostawesomemomentofrevelationthatwhenyouaskkidstousetheirownvoiceandaskthemtospeakforthemselves,whatthey'rewillingtoshare.Thelastquestionoftheassignmentis:howdoyouplantouseyourlifetopositivelyimpactotherpeopleThethingsthatkidswillsaywhenyouaskthemandtakethetimetolistenisextraordinary.
