1、自我介绍

Good morning, sir and madam.. I’m privileged to be here for your interview. My name is xxx, 21 years old. I come from xxx, a small city in xxx Province. My undergraduate period will be accomplished in Anhui University in June this year. 

Generally speaking, I’m a studious student cause I have passion for what I have learned.  And I have kept the habit that I get up early at 6:30 and reading in the morning for 4 years, which benefits me a lot. At the same time, I have participated in various activities actively, and have worked in our school’s Press Center of Youth League committee for being all-rounded, versatile and comprehensive. When I worked in the press center, I was gradually firm in changing my major to Journalism for two reasons: firstly, I really like Journalism both as a major and as an occupation. Secondly, I want to take full advantage of what I have learned in university, English. Thus, sophomore as I was, I have set Shanghai International Studies University as my target. And now, I am trying my best for obtaining a key to SISU.

2、专业是什么？ 为什么要跨专业？ 为什么选我们学校？英语专业和新闻专业的异同？

专业是什么、为什么要跨专业： I am doing English in university. As for the reason why I choose SISU as my target, I should say that I have been accustomed to journalism. You see, I have been involved in journalism even since I was a pupil. Due to my good handwriting, I was always in charge of making the blackboard newspaper. I designed the news hole and decided the contents. So, I have done this job until I was matriculated in university because we do not have a blackboard in the back of the classroom, nor do we have a settled classroom. Then I participated in the information department of the Student Union in our school. I started to get involved in news gathering and reporting. And I am head over heels for it. So when I was a sophomore, I decided to change my major by taking part in the entrance exams for postgraduate schools.

为什么选某校：Firstly, as far as I am concerned, international journalism is a special program targeting at cultivating trained personnel. And [School] is famous for its profound culture , dense academia and excellent teaching. Secondly, Shanghai is an international metropolis full of vigor, variety and vibrancy, and I believe Shanghai is the dream place for me to realize my dream. Thirdly, I can get knowledge of many cultures, like Russian culture and German culture, which is beneficial to a learner.

英语专业和新闻专业的异同：

相同点：Certainly, journalism and English language both belong to humanities, so they share a lot of similarities. For example, the famous poet John Milton, who wrote the epic Paradise Lost, also published Areopagitica—Freedom of the Press, and argues that, give me liberty to know , to utter , and to argue freely according to conscience. 

不同点：First, their curricula are different. English, as a kind of language, is a tool for communication, and we tend to focus on the English literature, linguistics and translation. In contrast, Journalism is composed of newspapers, broadcasting, and television. What’s more, journalism is more social than English because journalists must get involved into all kinds of social activities and combine journalism with knowledge form different disciplines. From this aspect, English language is more like input, while Journalism is like output.

对上海的印象：I have visited Shanghai last year. Shanghai, of course, is an international metropolis full of vigor, dynamism and variety and vibrancy I was deeply impressed by the Bund. On the left, there is the history of tribulation, and on the other side, is a fast developing modern society, which bears the hope and confidence to the future, and I think this spirit motivates people to make progress.

3、最喜欢什么电视节目（TV program）综艺（variety show）喜欢里面的谁为什么？

TV program: My favorite TV program is A Date with Luyu. And Luyu is one of my favorite comperes. I really appreciate her elegance, patience and intelligence. She always has the magic to let her interviewees tell their stories at ease and under the harmonious circumstance. 

Variety Shows: My favorite Variety Show is Top Funny Comedian（欢乐喜剧人）. Among the several groups of comedians, Shen Teng’s team is my best-loved. I do appreciate Shen Teng’s great effort in challenging to break the stereotype that people hold towards him. And I think he is very successful and I am looking forward to his further performance.

4、如何看待记者是“无冕之王”(uncrowned king)

Uncrowned king refers to people who don’t have real power but do have great influence towards our society. Actually, I agree that journalists are the uncrowned king. On the one hand, journalism is called the fourth estate, which has the power to supervise the government, and the bridge connected citizen and the government to convey the opinion and suggestion. By reporting the hot issues or events, especially the livelihood issues, journalists try to evoke the attention of our government, and to impel the settlement of the problem. On the other hand, journalists do have the possibility of a king. The Sword of Damocles is always hanging above their heads. They should care about people, help them, and be supervised by them at the same time.

5、先救人还是先报道

I think this question has been haunted in the mind of many journalists. If I encountered this situation, firstly, I would look around to see whether there are people who could offer the first aid or have called the ambulance. If there are the people willing to offer help, I would report immediately because informing the latest happenings is my duty. But if there are no people to offer help, or the situation is very urgent, I would never hesitate to come to rescue. 

For the reason to do so, I think that our society need more humanistic care. As a journalist, I should be responsible to people, not only for their right to know, but also their right to live. Being a person first and journalist second, or we will lose more.

6、记者能否完全从感情中脱离 做到客观中立

I think journalists can never completely separate themselves from emotion. It is very difficult to be wholly objective in reality. The journalism in our nation has five characteristics, one of which is the quality of guiding. Guiding requires journalists reside their opinions on the facts, so that the audience could be guided and influenced by journalists. Further more, journalist is also one member of public, journalist shares the same stand with the audience. For instance, when some country violate our sovereignty, we journalist do need to decry this behavior rather than just report the event objectively. 

7、最喜欢的记者是谁？ 为什么？

My favorite reporter is Wang Guan, who is the chief correspondent of North America bureau of CCTV. He has interviewed many statemen, trying hard to protect our state interests and sovereign equality. By his sagacity and idiomatic English, he successfully leaves a deep impressive to Americans and holds the stance of China.

8、“网络环境下人人都是记者 你怎么看”

Everyone in the Internet is a journalist, this is the statement that I don’t really agree. I think the statement should be changed as “everyone in the Internet is a news resource”. Journalists are those who interview, observe, consider and record, then report the news to the audience. Journalists should be responsible to what they have reported. But under the circumstance of Internet, every citizen has a microphone, but they are not trained as a professional journalist, so their words in the Internet are sometimes misleading for don’t need to bear the duty for their words.

9、“电子阅读会不会取代纸质阅读”？

I don’t think the electronic books could replace the physical books. Electronic books are suitable for fast reading, which is preferred by young people. But when we need to do deep research, we need traditional books and meditate on the contents. therefore, I feel that conventional paper books should be indispensable and irreplaceable. They can be compromised but never substituted. 

10、以后想从事的职业（具体职位）

In fact, I want to be a journalist in my future. Actually, I decided to do more researches about international journalism, but before that, I think practice is more important than just cramming the textbook. So I would like to learn more in practice and then probe into it to receive some suggestions for future.

11、研究生2年或者3年的规划

From what I can see so far, I plan to study harder to learn more about this subject. In the long run, I hope I can form a systematic view of international communication. If possible, I will go on with my study for doctorate degree. Secondly, I would like to do some practice, like being a cub reporter to better understand the operation of this field. Thirdly, I want to participate in some school activities or organization like student union, to better serve the school and make more friends. 

12、看过什么专业的书 说的是什么

Since journalism shares various similarities with culture, and cross-culture is also an important branch of international communication. When I was a sophomore, I have read the book named The Chrysanthemum and the Sword, written by Ruth Benedict. The book depicts the rooted characteristics of Japanese, through thorough investigations, interviews and participation. From her book, I have gained a closer eye on Japanese. And we also need to take their characteristics into consideration to communicate with Japanese effectively and efficiently. 

13、本地新闻和国际新闻你更喜欢哪一个为什么

I do read local news and international news. I like them both but I would lean towards local news more because it is connected with my life more tightly. From local news, I could know what has happened around me, which even may influence my plans. For example, if it were reported that a new park would open this month, and then I might visit it at that moment.

14、报纸和杂志谁更popular 以后读报纸的人会增多还是变少

In fact, newspapers and magazines are both very popular in our daily life. Their differences may bears in that, newspaper is to inform the readers about the latest happenings and show the readers a panorama, while magazines are meant to arise readers’ curiosity by showing the enlarged close-ups. Since nowadays people can get the latest news on Internet immediately, magazine grows gradually more popular than newspaper due to its specialty. For example, women may prefer to buy trend fashion magazine like Vogue to know the latest trend for clothes.

读报的人会增多或变少：Due to the strong electronic rivalry, the readership of newspapers will be shrieked to some degree. Newspaper is aimed at informing readers of the latest happenings around us, but we can get them on the Internet just by a click. But newspaper will not disappear soon at present because those elites still have the habit to read newspaper daily, and some important publishers have the agenda-setting effects on those elites by in depth reports like investigative reporting and interpretive reporting.

15、平时爱做什么？最近在做什么？

爱做什么: Just as a simple girl, I like listening to music and I prefer folk songs recently, because they could rejuvenate me. Besides, I like watching variety shows and soup opera some times, especially those which could bring me laughter.

最近在做啥： Recently, I am busy in preparing my second examination by reading books, memorizing the key facts, and at the same time, I also prepare for my TEM-8 exam. Besides, I have been considering for my undergraduate thesis. Those well-spent days make me fell happy.
